Problem customizing Start Orbs.

I tried to customize my start orb yesterday, went great and i even ended up restoring pc three times. What i did was follow instructions on sevenforums.com. I got the restorator trial version and everything. Followed every step to the letter. Restarted and my baby grew teeth, she was very very rough((((. There was an error with the new explorer save file.

** How since it worked for everyone else?
so i then retried it from the top and it happened again.
Restored it, redownloaded Restorator 2007 and did it again, i then noted that when restorator saves the .exe file on the trial period, something else is added to the mix apparently. But not sure entirely.

I just need suggestions as to what i might have done wrong and if i need to pay 80 bucks, just to change a bloody start orb:shock:. what r my options?

Did you make your bitmap image too? If you did try following this guide http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q-9FC6P0lKU

You might have missed something small. As an alternative look at this [link] tutorial also. Scroll a bit down, and take special note of xxrazor's tut. There are also other related tutorials to find there.

Oki i just changed the start button, if anyone encounters this problem after replacin the explorer.exe file, Make sure u use the windows folder, and not a system 32.

eg. X:\Windows\explorer.exe
not x:\Windows\system32\explorer.exe


i will just to add that, the problem had nothing to do with restorator.
