When I import messages from Windows Live Mail into Windows Live Mail, I proceed as follows:

- In Windows Live Mail I select Import messages, then Windows Live Mail and then finally I browse and select the location. Eventually I get a screen saying: Importing message ... of ... messages.

- When I check later in the Storage folder. I cannot find all the messages. During import it says that it is importing for example 21 files but when I check the Storage folder only 3 files are displayed.

If it's not working properly I'd do a repair via Programs and Features: highlight "Windows Live Essentials", choose uninstall/change at the top, and in the next window choose "repair". The installed components will be repaired, including Mail.

I did a repair but it does not solve the problem. When importing files it goes from folder to folder and says: importing ... messages of ... messages. It says e.g. that for a particular folder it is importing 45 files but when I check later I can see 10 files only.

Each time you do an import WLM puts the import into a new subfolder in the Storage area. Perhaps you could try doing the same import several times to see if it's always the same 35 of 45 files that are missing.

Also, iirc, the window where you select the mail to be imported lists several email groupings. Have you tried to select one group at a time to see if it works better?

Is it possibe that the source files in the source WLM that you originally exported were organized into too many subfolders of subfolders? If so, is it too late to go back and rearrange the email groupings to one level deep, then re-export them?

DONT DISPARE, look for a folder called "Imports" and you'll find all of it there !!!:D

I finally gave up on WLM's crashing.../having to be repaired, and went to Outlook.com (aka Hotmail) as my Primary email-
It has a more manage folder structure somewhat like WLM (better than Gmail/Yahoo).

BTW- In WLM You can Minimize.../Highlight/drag & drop/ from one folder to another.

I have completed importing my WLM file from a cd and like yourself I couldn't find them in the current mail folder until I found a folder called "IMPORTS", you will not find what you're looking for in the storage folders
