Hi,

I posted here a few days ago about some programs not recognizing there was a connection to the internet, and it turned out to be a problem with my DNS servers. It was fixed and everything was working fine until last night when the problem returned.

I did an ipconfig /all and it looks exactly the same as it did after I fixed the problem, showing that I'm using google's DNS.

This is the current ipconfig /all

Code:

Your one DNS address is wrong: 198.168.1.1, should be 192.168.1.1. Don't know if that matt5ers but try it and see what happens.

Did you type the Google DNS addresses into you machines DSN server settings or your routers DNS settings?

If you typed them into your machines DNS settings you would want to remove those and type them into your routers settings on your routers settings page for DNS servers.

Ideally you will want to only see your default gateway show up where is says DNS server which means it's getting it's DNS from the router.

I think I changed it on my machine not the router. I'll change it when I get home and see if that works. Is there any reason that it worked as a temporary fix and then stopped working a couple of days after?

Try doing making the change and find out. In general, if you are using DHCP then you should designate the DNS in the routers settings also.
