Hi,
Up until two days ago, the sound on my laptop (an HP using the Windows 7 OS) was working perfectly with no apparent problems. Then on Monday, the I found that the sound was not working at all. I've already checked to see if the audio is muted (it isn't) and I appear to have a working sound card (3-Realtek High Definition Audio). I've looked around online and I'm not seeing anyone else with the same problem. Hopefully, someone here will be able to suggest a way to regain audio. Thank you. -Jake6982

Hard to tell what happened. However, use the System Restore and restore the PC back to an available Restore Date that is BEFORE the problem. Many times that will take care of it.

System Restore can be accessed from Start/Programs/Accessories/System Tools. System Restore will not delete any user data, pictures, e-mail, etc. But any programs or program updates that were installed will have to be reinstalled. Same way any programs that were uninstalled will have to be uninstalled again. Give this a try as a first step.

Thank you. My audio somehow came back on, but I'll remember this tip if it disappears again in the future.
