Solved Problem with exFAT USB Flash Drive

The only way you can find whether your 128GB flash drive is a fake or not is the price you paid for it and the place where you bought it.

If you have paid more than $100 as per Jumanji's link (PNY) and bought it at a respectable store, then it could be a genuine one. Sometimes even the genuine ones fail. But they carry a warranty and all you have to do is return the flash drive to the original seller and you will get a replacemant. Once I returned a non working Transcend flash drive after six months and got a replacement without any squabble. The only requirement is that the serial no. on the device should be intact.

If you have paid an unbelievably low price for this flash drive, then 99% it is a fake. Definitely it does not carry any warannty. Don't bother to repair it and chuck it out in the trashcan.

Hi kaicrux,

Welcome to SevenForums.

:) You are asking the OP in a thread which is more than 9 months old.

You would have been better off starting a new thread defining your problem precisely.

Anyway, to my knowledge there is no way to convert exFAT to FAT32, keeping the data intact.

You may copy the data elsewhere delete the exFAT partition/s and then create new partition/s /format your drive to FAT32. After that copy your data back.

You may use a partitioning utility like MiniTools Partition Wizard Home Edition to delete the existing partitions and formatting new FAT32 partitions.( Windows would not format more than 32GB as FAT32)

Free Partition Magic alternative, partition manager freeware, partition magic server, partition magic Windows 7 and free Partition Manager software for Windows 7/8/VISTA/XP/2000 and Windows Server 2003/2008/2000.

Yes, this is a very old post but in case anyone ever comes across it with the same issue, I have had exFAT issues for the past few days, on both Xubuntu & Windows 7 Home Premium. I made the exFAT partition under Windows 8.1, thinking that I could use it between systems but no dice. So I had this fancy notion to try diskinternals linux reader app, which reads ext3 and other GNU/Linux formatted drives. Works like a charm. Access to Ext 2/3/4, HFS and ReiserFS from Windows
