problem with word

i can't access word or any of my word files, when i try i get an error message saying i don't have the right permissions, i've tried changing permissions in the properies tab but nothing changes, i do have two admin accounts one of which is the built in acc and i suspect the extra acc is causing the problem but i cant delete it!!

Hi phil 71,

Can you right-click on Microsoft Word and select 'Run As Administrator'? When did this problem start happening, and was it after you'd altered any of the administrative permissions? I presume your current account is an administrator. Tell me more about your user configuration.

Hi, thanks for your reply, i tried the run as administrator option but i got the same error message, there are three user accounts- two admin accounts only one of which i use and a guest account which is currently turned off, however in the permissions tab there is another admin account and the account i use is not shown as an admin account! i dont really understand whats happening, i think the problem started when i tried to delete the extra admin account,...

Try: Press the Word ORB > Word Options > Resources > Run Microsoft Office Diagnostics. Maybe it can fix it.

i obviously have a different set up to you as i can't see the same screen layout, i'm thinking it may be easier to in install it then reinstall, will this affect any of my existing files?

i just typed microsft office diagnostics in the search tab but when i tried to open it i got the same error message as when i tried to open word

Make a last attempt. Go to Start > All Programs > Microsoft Office > Office Tools > Office Diagnostics. Try to start it from there. This is what you are supposed to get:

but i think i may have the same issues then, i suspect its something to do with permissions but i'm not sure how to configure those, i've tried but i may have made the problem worse!!

Hi Harvey, its 2007, i get the same error message when i try to open certain applications too.

Are you sure it is 2007? With 2007, the orb should be there. Could it be 2010, which also has the ribbon, but has the new version of the file menu instead of the orb?

Which applications specifically?
