Problems after joining 2003 domain

Hi,
This is a strange problem for me. I've searched and can't seem to find anything on it. They also seem totally unrelated. I have a Dell Latitude E5400 I've installed Win 7 Pro on for testing in our 2003 AD environment. Downloaded, installed latest updates and drivers after Win 7 install. (except BIOS) I join the laptop to the domain and it goes smooth until after the required reboot. It flashes the ctrl, alt, delete screen and then immediately switches to the Shutdown screen and reboots and hangs on the Starting Windows screen. I then reboot in Safe Mode and it hangs on CLASSPNP.SYS file which after I research I find is supposedly a scsi driver. The laptop has a sata WD HDD in it. I can do a restore on it and it will restore to before it was attempted to join the domain. Any help is greatly appreciated!
Thanks
Robert

I would like to point out that the functioning level for server 2003 is Win xp. There is a chance there will be issues using Win 7 and server 2003.

On server 2003 the highest function level for use is windows xp. One difference is win 7 and vista are incompatible with win 2000 and xp profiles. Im sure there are several more things that can be going on, honestly I would suggest checking on the technet forums. Someone may have a fix for this.

I have almost no experience with networking and domains, but on the face of it, doesn't it sound just a bit ridiculous that domains using the windows 6 kernel can't network with any systems using the windows 5 kernel, or vice versa.. even though they both use the same file systems and protocols? Sounds like an artificially created barrier to me.. a cheap ploy by Microsoft to force businesses to upgrade everything at once instead of incrementally.

Well in 2003 the Group Policy is different than 2008. There are more functioning setting adn controls that can be put into place and can cause issues with configurations. One option is to boot to the Win 7 disk and run a repair install and maybe that can fix your issue :). Maybe it just didnt play nice with one of the GP settings.

That's nothing more than a superficial problem that could be easily fixed. There isn't any other explanation than the one I've come up with for why, after more than 3 years, you still can't use Vista in a corporate setting unless you upgrade all your machines at once.

No concerns running Windows 7 clients in a Windows 2003 Active Directory environment. That's what we do at my shop and my last shop. It's just fine and dandy.

It restores back to before I join the domain. I'm basically in a loop here. We have looked at the Group Policy differences in 2008 and that is one reason we are starting to test. ( I know we are a little late to the ball game) We are using Symantec Endpoint Protection

Ok, are you suggesting a hardware issue then?

What type of A/V is installed on the problem laptop?

The only similar reference I found was at technet where the same problem was fixed by uninstalling Nod32. I would say it's possible for another type of A/V to cause the same problem.

You're not going to believe this. I should have tried this before I blasted off a post. However, maybe it will help someone who has the same problem and is stuck like I was.

Also, sometimes all you have to do is look for the easy solution instead of making it too hard.

Hitting F8 and scrolling to "Last known good Configuration" fixed the problem so far.

We are a fairly small company and I'm trying to develop an image so I am still in the building stages.

Thanks folks for all the timely responses and help!!!
I'll do my best to try to do the same.
