Problems removing folder

one option that is guaranteed to work, regardless of permissions, is to create a bootable ubuntu flash drive, and use it to get rid of those folders.

Hello,

Do you have that application still installed ?? If so we can try to use REVO Uninstaller and have it remove. If not then try to Disable UAC and delete those files.

Hope this helps,
Captain

There are greyed out special permissions for "Maker EIGENAAR", these are either inherited from another parent folder or they are set by a higher authority on the folder. Do you have permission to "Add" another user or group? or is that option greyed out too? If you can, please select "add" type in "everyone" click "check names"... they should then underline. After you add them, in the check box select "full control". you can manually set the folder to stop inheriting from it's parent, i highly suggest removing the inherited permissions. You must make sure the software is not running when making these changes. DOUBLE CHECK to make sure there is no service or process associated to this program while making these changes.
I tried this, but I can't figure out what you mean exactly. Maybe I'm missing some steps.

Hi all,

I'm trying to delete a folder, but Windows keeps asking about Administrator privileges. I even logged in as Administrator and it keeps telling me I don't have the rights to edit or remove this folder.

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance!

Sc00zy,

If you cannot change this as the Administrator it likely has to do with your User Account Controls, because more people do not set up standard accounts, the administrator accounts now come with controls to try to help adminstrators avoid downloading malware... To learn about adjusting the controls go here: What are User Account Control settings?.

Cheers,

Assuming that you have used one of the procedures in the Take Ownership tutorial and you still can not delete, then try following:

Boot into Safe Mode
Run Cmd.exe as an Administrator
WIN key (this fill pop up the start menu)
type CMD.EXE
in the list that appears, RIGHT-CLICK on "Run as Administrator"
CD \"Program Files"
cd \Pigpin (or whatever the name of that folder was)
ATTRIB
if any files are listed with the S or the H or the R attrib, then use the ATTRIB command to clear those attributes.
Use DEL to delete the the file.
Repeat that for all of the files in the folder.
If the folder has subfolders, then use CD to get to the subfolder and delete any files in the subfolder.
When a folder is empty, use RD to remove the directory.
This is a laborious procedure but will quite ofter work.

I feel a bit silly. This morning I rebooted my system and tried to remove the folder again. Now I could delete it without any problem. Probably there was another service running I didn't know off. The service I stopped was pidgin.exe. I didn't know there was another service running.

Sorry guys for using lots of your time. Many thanks for all the extended replies and thinking with (for) me!

Great. Glad to hear your problem is gone.

And many thanks for letting us know the solution. I'm only kicking myself for not suggesting checking for such as a solution.
