I recently noticed that one of my internet computer's (Duo Core) CPU was red-lining much of the time and responses obviously became much slower. The Task Mgr "Processes" revealed that a process named "searchsetting.exe" was using over 50% of the CPU. When I "end the process", the CPU usage indicator downs drastically.
A google search reflected mixed opinions as to whether searchsettings.exe was dangerous or not. Some called it a Trojan; but my Norton Internet Security 2011 doesn't seem to flag it.
Anyone familiar with this Process? And can suggest what to do?
It resides in the Programs folder but is said to be transparent. A Microsoft Tech suggested deleting it by running "SDFix.exe."
