"System" file hogging CPU.

My "System" file is hogging CPU, it's not system.exe, it's just labeled as "System" when I click go to file directory, it takes me to my desktop with the computer shortcut highlighted.

This just recently started happening. Also when I search things it just comes up as blank fileicons and says #1 result "Programs" # result "Documents" it's a weird error, it started occurring about the same time my system file started acting up.

System is not a file or anything of that nature. IT IS THE SYSTEM, you know Windows? The Kernel?
You probably should scan for malware.

I did, I also had some popular whitehats check my computer, there is no malware.

My most recent installations are Hot spot shield (VPN), and FileZilla (FTP program).

I'm not sure how to check drivers though.

Well seeing as Hot Spot Shield installs a kernel driver....I might be inclined to remove it for the time being.

I tried, I get a error that it did not uninstall correctly.

Let me look into that with AnchorFree.

Edit: I uninstalled the software, it seems to have drastically reduced it, but it is still rather high.
I also still have the windows 7 search problem.

IMHO 31 cpu and 60k memory for systems is not high.

31% CPU at idle is unusually high. Should be 0 most of the time.



Suggest you d/l Process Explorer to see what exactly is using the CPU.

It's somewhat advanced, but should track down what exactly is using the CPU.
