Here is a video of what happens: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i_W-BM3Vmkk

Whenever I try to game longer than 10 minutes on this rig I JUST built, my PSU starts flickering like a strobe light and then my computer freezes. Sometimes it will display a random color though out the whole screen, or just go black. I have checked all my temperatures when this occurs and they are all well below average. I have ALL the latest drivers/windows updates.

In this case like many others, my screen goes black for a few seconds but then recoveres, only to have terrible FPS (I usually get 80+).

System Specs:

CPU: Intel Core i7-3820 Sandy Bridge-E 3.6GHz (LGA 2011)

GPU: EVGA GeForce GTX 660 3GB (Factory SuperClocked)

HDD: Western Digital WD Blue 1TB 7200 RPM

PSU: Rosewill Xtreme Series RX850-S-B 850W

MB: ASRock X79 Extreme6 LGA 2011

RAM: G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3

OS: Windows 7 Professional x32

What should I do?

From my research I have found that your power supply has 4 12v+rail at 20 amps each and your video card requires as min. a 24 amp 12v+ rail.

Is there anything I can do to make this card run stable?

If it was my computer I wouldn't do any thing until a proper power supply was installed.
Take a look at a Corsair or a Seasonic power supplies.

Do you suspect this will have any long time damage on my PC?

Because it runs fine if I underclock the card and increase the voltage.

Any time a power supply is causing problems it can damage other things in the computer such as motherboard and or video card.

The 24A listed by eVGA is a system total. There's no way it can be a minimum requirement for each rail on a 4 rail system, unless by some absurd design flaw the system is drawing all +12V power through a single rail.

There may be a problem with the PSU, but the PSU should be more than adequate if it meets its specs, and it isn't defective.

If it's defective, it should be replaced immediately, to avoid a much more expensive repair (fried motherboard, CPU, GPU, etc.).

Assuming that your PSU is failing, are you looking for an adequate replacement or a heavy duty one?

Adequate:

Newegg.com - Antec NEO ECO 520C 520W Continuous Power ATX12V v2.3 / EPS12V 80 PLUS Certified Active PFC Power Supply

Heavy duty:

Newegg.com - CORSAIR CX750M 750W ATX12V v2.3 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply

There are lots of other ones out there. People here tend to prefer Seasonic and Corsair. My own PSU is from PC Power and Cooling. (I used to hear more about them. They are currently owned by OCZ, which has a better reputation for their SSD products than their other stuff.)
