Solved python software

Not sure where to post this.

I am trying to learn using python. ( I know absolutely nothing about computer language other than Basic Language about 30 years ago.)
I have googled and found python tutorials.
My question is... I need to install the python software first. Is that correct ?
I saw a 3.2.3 version, and I also saw a 2.7 version.
Is the former the most current version ?

I would go for 2.7, most of the example code you will find is written in the 2X versions and is more widely adopted.

No problem, also for some good instruction on python do a search on youtube for "MIT open courseware intro to computer science". I have viewed some of the videos which are shot live as the class is taught. They use python 2.6 in those videos but the code they teach will work in 2.7 as well.
