Data is transferred to/from the RAM on both edges of the clock pulse, resulting in an effective transfer rate of twice the clock frequency. Hence the memory is referred to as Double Data Rate RAM (DDR). So a clock rate of 400MHz will transfer data at an effective 800MHz.
If you get another identical stick, you will be able to improve your performance considerably as you will be running in dual-channel mode, whereby the memory interface will be 128 bits wide as opposed to 64 bits for the single channel mode which you currently have.
