Questions About my PC and upgrades

Please give me a link to go to where It brings me to the exact page I need to be to down load the files to make my own windows 7 installation disk please. That is all I want. I want to be able to make the disk. I also want to be able to download any edition of windows I want to.

Typically, you BUY Windows. Comes in a Green (Home Premium), Blue (Professional), or Black (Ultimate) package. Has discs in it. You run those discs.

Yes I know that part. But obviously I do not have them or the money to buy them. But thanks. I take it that part of it is useless. Then I can forget about clean install. Guess I am just going to suck it up.

I do not mean any disrespect to anyone here. But when I ask a question. I just want a straight forward answer. Not that I need one to the clean install. I get that one. It is useless for me to try it.

I do not need someone to tell me something that is very obvious. If I had the Installation disks. Now I do not think I would have asked that question in the first place. Nor would I have asked how I can do a clean install with a computer that did not come with any Windows 7 disks and I do not have the money to buy them. I think the buying almost 500 dollars in disks to make them all into one CD just to have them to do a clean install on my $500 PC would be a little out of the question. I think I would have just either made a $1000 PC. Or bought a $1000 computer. And would not have any questions about it's performance or anything at all. I do not know if anyone would have thought of this. But I bought a budget desktop for a reason.

I know I am not the smartest person ever. But I am trying to learn very hard. I have no one to teach me at all. I sit on my computer for hours on end. Just searching and reading. Not only for my computer. But I plan on working on them someday. So I am doing what I can with what I have. I am not joking when I say I stare at my screen for so long at night. I have no choice but to go to bed after so much reading and writing from asking questions. Because I have a headache. I do not know much. But everything I do know if because of what I am doing right now. and as you see because of what I have been doing. I sit here and ask and read and wait. And ask some more. I am doing what I can with what I have. I really love computers. They are what I am going to do for work. One way or another. This is what I want. This is what I will get. I do not have any schooling. I have not even a GED. Though I am in the process of trying to get mine. While I do this. I sit here and read and write. I would really apreciate it if I would not get treated like a dumb A$$. Sorry. But it really lowers my already extremely low self esteem. I come from nothing and have nothing. I can bareley pay my internet bill. Actualy I do not even pay it. My girl friend does. SO I feel even more Loserish. Point being. That I am on here asking you guys all this. To yes learn and maybe make my computer better. But for the most part. I am doing this for me and my girl and the baby. I plan to work on PC's someday. And while I am jobless. I am going to make the most of what I can with what I have. So I am on here asking away. So I can maybe just put a dumb ad in the news paper and maybe work on some local computers just doing basic stuff. Like clean installs. Maybe just even doing full recovery's. For people who do not know how. But do not have the money to go pay geek squad 100 to 300 dollars to do it. I will do it and show them how to in the process for $50. I figure I can make a little money from doing it. All the while learning just a little in the process. I whole idea is to learn as much as possible.

All I am asking is to please help me. If not please do not try and make me feel any dumber than I already do.

All I am asking is to please help me.

You are putting carts before horses.

Help you do what, SPECIFICALLY? I say, SPECIFICALLY.

About all you have stated in this thread is that you want to get rid of some applications, but you don't know which ones.

Why would you want to do that??

What harm are they causing you?

What is it that you cannot do that think you could do if you deleted a bunch of applications?

As far as we know, your PC is performing very well and you have no problems---other than that you want to delete applications for reasons known only to you.

No one on this forum is likely to wade through the 60 or 80 applications you have to find out what they all do. Even if they did, who is to say you wouldn't need the application? But the applications are largely harmless anyway, although you want to delete them--for reasons known only to you.

If I were in your shoes, wanting to learn about PCs, I would:

1: Go into my closet and find some stuff I could sell for $100.

2: Sell that stuff

3: Go buy Windows

4: Install Windows and then install other applications ONLY as necessary. Your PC knowledge will gradually build from that point as you read and research.

The alternatives to that are to do nothing at all or research the unnecessary applications you seem to think you have--both of which you seem unwilling to do. So you are painted into a corner. As it is now, you want to tinker, but you are fearful of tinkering as well.

Near-terminal frustration is part of the process. We all went through it at one time.

Does anyone know of a good video card that does not cost a lot. I am looking for a graphics card that will let me play X-Box games on my computer. Also I am looking to try and hook up multiple screens. I only have 1 screen that has HDMI though. The rest of my screens have I do not have much money. SO I could not spend over &150.00 Really if there was a way I could get a $100.00 graphics card. That would work just fine would be even better. But I have been looking at a lot of cards that are around $150.00 They look like they would get the job done for me. I looked up the WEI and the one I was looking at. It was a 7.3. That was a lot higher than I was expecting to get for a card in my price range. I am just wondering if anyone has any recommendations. I think I would like to stick to Radeon. My computer has an integrated Radeon it it. I know I could use a Nividea if I wanted. I just do not want to. I was told that I could get a Nividea card that gave me the same performance as a 5770 for less than I would pay for the 5770.

X-Box games... are we talking emulation? Every time I see that I get confused. Graphics cards aren't really rated on their ability to play console games. :S

Radeon 5670, 5770, nVidia GTS 450, 460. My recommendations.

And for monitors, the HP S2031 is a nice 20" LCD that runs around $120 USD.

Honestly I am not even sure how exactly you do play X-Box games on a PC. But I do know that you can. Microsoft makes both X-Box and Windows. SO I know it can be done. I have seen a friend do it. But I never actually have done it my self. So I do not know exactly how it works. What I want I guess is A card that I do not have to worry about having problems doing just about anything. Do you think that the 5770 is a good enough card that I could do anything I would want to and not worry about having any difficulties? That is what I want. I want to not have to worry about having trouble with anything. But I am not entirely sure that I can get a card good enough for 150. But I have seen that the 5770 is rated at like 7.3 in the WEI. SO then again I was maybe thinking it would let me do just about anything. I would like to hear what you think about both Radeon's you mentioned. Do you think could get away with using the 5670?

Well when you say "anything", no, it won't do ANYTHING. The 5770 will get you medium to high quality on 90% of games and medium at best on the high end games like Crysis. If you want to play a game that you see on xbox 360, go find it's PC counterpart and do that. If it's a Games for Windows game, you can use your G4W Live account and some games will allow you to play online cross platform. I know my copy of Halo 2 does it.

I would like to get a graphics card that is like this one. But I am not sure if this one will fit into my computer. I can not seem to find the size of it anywhere. But if someone could help me with this. I would be greatly appreciated. I want a graphics card as good as this one. But no cheaper. I love this card. I like the EYEFINITY and the Pre Overclocked part. I really want this card. But am not sure if it will fit. So if not is there any other card as good as this one that would fit. I only have about 9 inches. No more than 9 inches.

Here is the card I am talking about that I really like.

It's about 9 or so inches long. It's the same length as my 6850. It'll be a tight fit but it should work for you.

I would like to get a graphics card that is like this one. But I am not sure if this one will fit into my computer. I can not seem to find the size of it anywhere.

Here is a google search that should help you (in more ways than one...):

H577QT1GD length - Google Search

Judging by the 3rd result down, it's just over 9 1/2":

LenghtCapture.JPG

You seem to be very entusiastic about computers, but aren't quite sure what to do about it. Throwing money at it is not the answer, as you don't really know what your needs are or how they will be served by what you are buying.

Information is free. Knowing how to find that information is critical to your interest. Google is a great place to start. Use it. Learn how to use search terms. Experiment with different terms to find what you want. It's simpler than you think.

For instance, within seconds of reading your post asking about the length of the card, I searched google with the terms H577QT1GD length (h577.. being the model# of the card). I didn' really cull through the results, but reading the first 3 'blurbs' turned up information. If I was really interested in that info, I would then check other results for verification.

I'm not telling you this because no one wants to bother with giving you answers, but because of your stated interest in learning and using computers to make a career. And, it's also easier on you to find answers rather than the 'post and wait' routine.

The old addage applies:
"Give a man a fish, he eats today, teach him to fish and he eats for life".

If you wish for knowledge, you don't have to glean it one post at a time. Learn to fish. Google is an excellent place to start. And, since you've already been to Newegg, you have a great resouce just by reading user reviews. You can learn loads about the product through user reviews. And pick up other technical information as well. Many resources out there for those (like you) avidly seeking to learn. The Seven Forums are a great resource, but there are many more.

I was trying to search for the card the same way with google. But I was just having a retard spell. I seem to have them very often. I just could not think of that one simple word length. I was using size. Witch of course was popping up with memory and all that other stuff I didn't want.

A natural mistake. Changing search terms will often find what you need. Keep at it. You'll learn much more by starting with learning efficient methods of searching for information. It's the platform by which you can educate yourself on almost any subject. A key part of your education, so to speak.

A subscription to a good PC magazine wouldn't be a bad idea, either.

Since you live in the US, Chium, I recommend Maximum PC magazine. I've subscribed to them for almost 6 years now and they teach a lot. Go pick one up at just about any store that sells magazines for $9 (subscription price is $15 for the year, I think, $1.25 an issue) and give it a read. You'll find yourself keeping a good majority of them.

If you're referring to the Max PC pdf issues, they go back to 2004 if you follow the 'page' bar at the bottom of the page. 9 pages of monthly issues for years. That should keep you busy for a while. :geek:

Hey I just got my new HDMI to DVI cord. So I could use my emerson TV as a high def computer screen. I seem to have things looking okay I guess. I have tried messing with all the catalyst controls a little at a time used the adjust calibration on the computer it self at the same time to match all up. But I can not seem to get my writing to look as good. I know it is because the screen is coming in way better and a lot clearer so I can see all the fine details and little stuff. But how do I fix this. I would like to get my visual to optimal performance. That was the whole point of getting a HD cord to use instead of VGA. I also have clear text turned on also. Maybe I have just done that thew wrong way. Did not select the right text for it to choose the right setting for me. My picture's look great. But my writing kind of like there is a skip or two every couple words.

A couple of thoughts:

1) Are you running at the native resolution of the TV?
2) Do you have Clear Type turned on? Type 'clear type' into the help and support window for info.

1.) AM not sure exactly what you mean. I have the recommended resolution on yes, Other than that I am not sure what you mean exactly

2.) Yes, That what I meant when you turn it on it asks you 4 times to pick one paragraph out of multiple ones. Maybe I just picked the wrong ones so it set it to the wrong settings? I did try it 2 or 3 times.
