I have 12 GBs of RAM, can i disable my Paging File?
Will it be faster?

Hello Alex,

Some programs will require using the page file for them to run properly no matter how much RAM you have installed. You should not not disable the page file. Since you have 12GB of RAM, you can reduce it's size if you are really in need to free up more hard drive space. Otherwise, I would recommend to leave it set to the default "System managed".

You can move the page file to be stored on a separate physical hard disk instead of on the C: drive to improve performance though.

What he said. This is just one of many "tweaks" that applied with Windows XP (in theory) but don't with Vista and Windows 7.

No, RAM is always faster than disk. However, disabling the page file will not make your system run faster and may cause issues with some programs being able to run properly that require a page file to. That's all.

Both Brink, and Antman, are correct on this subject. Even in XP it was not a good idea. Some developers set up their applications to use the paging file so that their programs can run smoother. Information would be placed in the paging file as a way to allow ram to be more readily available to more important aspect of an application.
