RAID Array Issue?

I noticed something odd...

In an attempt to ensure all files (including boot files) were installed on only my SSD, I disabled all my other HDD's in the BIOS.

Installed Win7 RTM x64, everything worked well. BUT when I re-enabled all the other HDD's...Win7 blue screened before it could load (got half way through the animation, then poof, blue screen)

Wouldn't boot in Safe mode, System restore did nothing...

Reinstalled Win7 with my SSD and RAID array enabled and everythings fine.

Seems Win7 can't handle a RAID array being added after installation, as in it can't find or handle the driver for it when it gets suddenly added.

Anyone have a similar issue? Not looking for a resolution because I have everything running fine now. Just curious if anyone has encountered this or similar.

Win 7 does seem to be finiky when it comes to raid. I found out the hard way not to remove the raid when I recommended a user not have the controller attached when he was installing. It fixed all the other problems with drivers till he installed the reaid controller the BSOD. SO I guess its a balancing act.

Hope this helps

Don't have any SSD's, but don't think it will make any difference. Anyway first time I added RAID (on Vista at the time, but should still work the same in 7) I enabled the controller(s), and before installing the drives installed the RAID driver in Windows. I then installed the drives and configured the array, booted to Windows and the array was detected and installed with no problems.

Then took it a step further and imaged Windows and reloaded the image on the RAID, and it worked without issue for six months or so (did a fresh install when SP1 came out)..
