RAM randomly goes up to 100%

Normally this is triggered by a video, but can happen with a number of programs including Windows Explorer. When this happens my PC goes VERY slow for a few minutes.

Here are my specs:
CPU: Quad Q6600 @ 3.2GHz | GPU: Radeon HD 6950 | Mobo: Asus P5Q P45 | RAM: OCZ 4GB 1066GHz | HDD: 2x 1TB Samsung, 1x2TB

I have seen (on this very forum) this behavior with certain codec packs that provide support for video file types not native to Windows - MKV being one of the biggest culprits. Do you perhaps have a codec pack installed that would have contained MKV support?

Yeah I have tried two codec packs, the CCCP and the K-light codec pack. I currently use the K-light. I use MKV all the time, as I have many duel audio files.

You can try uninstalling K-Lite and using Home of Windows Essentials Codec Pack instead. If it is the MKV codec it may not help. Don't run two Codec Packs at once.

Yeah I uninstalled CCCP before I installed k-lite.

How does Home of Windows Essentials Codec Pack compare to K-lite?

How can I uninstall K-lite without losing all my favourites on media player classic? This happened to me when I uninstalled CCCP for K-lite and it was a great annoyance.

I used the Klite pack once and found it kind of buggy in that all media opened it the Classic player. The Windows Essentials Codec Pack has no media player and instead is for Windows Media player 11 or 12.

Yeah I'm more of a fan of lightweight ones like MPC and VLC
