Hi! fist of all, sorry for my bad english.

I've been getting BSOD for a like a month now, i had my laptop stored for a year because the power jack and poder cord of my laptop where broken. A month ago i asked a friend to help me soldering both. Since then, ive been getting bsod when i open several chrome tabs, connect a second monitor to the laptop, or try to run unity3d. BSOD usually happens after a couple of minutes of doing one of those things or just random after using the computer for a couple of hours.

i ran memtest86 for 14 hours, chkdsk /f /r, 0 errors.

im wondering what else can i do, please help.

Hello and welcome Chris sorry you have been waiting for a bit.
I am no expert but will have a go - now in the dump files there is a possible problem with the processor or it could be down to drivers of some sort ie chipset.

First can you run Speccy and if possible send back the temps on that machine please https://www.piriform.com/speccy/download if the readings come back as rather high then I suggest you check out the air intake and outlet of the laptop see my little ditty (below) for checking that out because the machine has just been lying around for so long it might well be just a build up of crud in it.

CLEANING A LAPTOP FAN& COOLER RAD

The thing you do is toturn over the laptop and shine a very bright light into the air intake aperture(you will see the fan there) and then while doing that look at the outlet venton the end of the laptop you should see the light quite clearly shining throughthe cooling " radiator" if not - it is clogged and will need cleaningas will probably the fan opening.

You can do this byblowing it out using a compressed air can in short bursts.

BUT ONE WORD OF WARNING DO NOT blow the air into the fan opening withoutinserting say a plastic rod or large cable tie to stop the fan from spinning asthe air blast will spin the fan at a very high speed that it is not designed totake and may wreck the bearing!!

To clean the slots in the radiator use a pipecleaner or one of those craft covered wire sticks - they are referred to aschinelle sticks - see pic. But do be very careful not to be overly heavy handedyou will find it might take a second or two or a few minutes to clear theheavier build ups.

Hi! Thanks for the response. Already cleaned the computer fan surrounding area, checked again still looks pretty clean.

As for Speccy, i close everything up before running it? i ask cause i opened a video while running it, and motherboard and graphis temp went up from 46 to 60

storage temp is 37

Ok mate if you mean it goes from 46 (which I think is little high for ?idle) to 60 running thr video then the top temp is ok. So it leaves one thinking it is still not clear what is causing the problem it could even be the CPU itself breaking down I will have to have another look at the dump files.

I had this error and it turned out to be Gigabyte software. If you have any, install it all.

Yep I had rabid problems with my Gigabyte based Sandy Bridge build too with their supplied and downloaded software but this is a Lenovo laptop and unless there is something Gigabyte that has been installed though I haven't a clue how or why then I would go further to say it might be factory installed Lenovo bloat.

The thing is it is pointing to a CPU problem or some closely related hardware issue. But at least it was a good thought for lateral thinking;)

OP is from Mexico and that idle may be normal? :)

Did you try running on battery alone or without the battery (turn off the laptop before removing)?

Yes Gokhan wasn't thinking ambient temps as you know out here can be 40C+ and unless one has air con it is your starting temp eh?

The no battery is a good idea as running o it is going to produce a fair bit of heat;)

I'm pretty sure you meant UNinstall since that would fit with what's been seen here.

what is "Gigabyte software"?

It's a utility software for retail motherboards, it doesn't apply to your Lenovo Laptop.

I mentioned that because of the other post I suppose I should have ignored but not knowing if you had any Gigabyte hardware installed I wasn't sure.
My own experience was with a Gigabyte board and the crap install disk it came with - mind you most disks supplies with boards are usually well out of date when one buys them unless they are standing at the end of the production line!!

Now the temps would not be affected by running a power adaptor and in fact I think I mentioned running on battery would produce heat in itself and if the battery was being used on it's own and / or was being actively charged form a very low level.
Now just for your info those lithium ion batteries should never be allowed to run completely flat because it damages the chemical makeup of the battery.
Moreover the lithium batteries do decay for want of a better term from the instant they are manufactured - that is they have a limited shelf life and life in general use and as I have just stated running them flat on a regular basis particularly will wreck them.
A couple of links if you are interested Debunking Battery Life Myths for Mobile Phones, Tablets, and Laptops & https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lithium-ion_battery if you are really really interested.

So in a sense what I am saying just because it is running on the battery it could POSSIBLY be that the battery is not putting out the correct voltage or current.

Ok ive been doing the stuff that was giving me the BSOD, and i have got none so far. I have only done two things after the last BSOD:
1.- Uninstalled kaspersky antivirus (I only installed trial version after the bsod started)
2.- Downloaded and Ran "CCleaner"

Im now running "verifier" ill just leave the computer on for the rest of the day to see if a BSOD shows up.
Could it be a registry error??

Possibly Chris now you can run these in safe mode to check to see if the OS (registry) has become corrupted

http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/433-disk-check.html< if necessary include the /f and /r in the command line as per Option2

and for good measure these

http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/adwcleaner/

ADW download from bleeping computerdelete any rubbish found with the malware scans

(with ADW ifyou are running Kaspersky it will throw it up as malware just overrideKaspersky by ignoring it or disabling it for the duration of the scan)

Now on Kaspersky I have been using it for the last five years and there have been bugs from time to time and to be honest the current version (2015 (a) ) is the buggiest one yet. Now this is entirely up to you and I am biased of course if the BSOD's do not return try the Kaspersky again because the bugs I mentioned were early on in the piece when I upgraded the version from 14 to 15.
I say that because Kaspersky apart from being good and well rated is also really cheap if you look for deals - my current licences cost me about $0.075 per day (7.5 cents), and I run it on all my five machines.

Having said that you can get a load of free AV stuff from here Free Windows Desktop Software Security List | Gizmo's Freeware check out the real time stuff.
