Random BSOD, evolved into BSOD when using Chrome.

Hello everyone. Recently I have experience BSODs (screenshot attached), as well as dump file.

Before it would randomly lock up, BSOD, and turn off. I could not think of anything I was doing pattern wise, it would just BSOD. Today, when using Chrome, about 4-5min into the session I would get the "Chrome has crashed" prompt, then the BSOD.

Any help would be immensely appreciated!

Thank you.

Reinstalled windows on a new drive, thinking it could be an issue with my SSD, same blue screen. So I am assuming it is something wrong with either my Mobo, GPU or memory. Trying to do a memtest tonight.

MobiusPC, here are the instructions for memtest86+. If you are going to do memtest, may as well do it properly.

Please Run Memtest86+
picture.php

   Information
Please download from this site only http://www.memtest.org/ in the middle of the page are the Download links, you can download the ISO.zip or the Auto USB Flash Drive installer.zip

Extract the Zip file. If you chose the ISO image, burn it to a CD using Windows Disk Image Burner or any Image burner you may have. If you downloaded the Auto USB installer, extract it, insert your USB 2.0 Flash Drive and take note of the drive letter. Run the installer, select the Flash Drive Letter, check the format box and press next. It will install memtest86+ to a flash drive. You can use either V4.20 or V5.01. Boot from your selected media. If you use V5.01 it will tell you to press certain buttons at the start, please press no buttons. The test will begin on it's own and continue to run until you stop it. It needs to run for 8 complete passes or until you receive an error. If you receive an error, stop the test. Even 1 error is a fail. Each pass tests a different part of the ram and each of the 10 tests in each pass tests something different. It takes a minimum of 8 passes to completely test the ram, more passes are better. It is quite a long test and will take several hours depending on how much ram you have. Due to the time length it is best to run overnight. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask

Ran MemTest.

View attachment 339095

So originally I thought it may be my SSD causing the blue screen, as the 0xF4 code, I was told, sometimes means a drive issue. I then re-installed Win7x64 on a HDD, blue screened again. Ran Memtest (everything appears to be okay with my memory). The only thing I can think of, is either my GPU, motheboard or somehow my PSU is causing it.

Please let me know if this is a good course of action: Remove my GPU, see if it BSODs, if it does, test PSU voltages, if all good on that, assume it is my Mobo?

Make sure your Firmware is up to date on the SSD. There is a new firmware out for the Samsung EVO, Samsung SSD 840 EVO Performance Restoration Software http://www.sevenforums.com/bsod-hel...-into-bsod-when-using-chrome.html#post2926143 You have to scroll down the page to find it.

You can also run Check Disk on your hard drive to make sure there are no problems with it, We can test the graphics card and maybe run Driver Verifier to see if you have any problematic drivers. You can check the PSU values in BIOS. Tell me the readings from BIOS on the +12V, +5V and +3.3V. The problem is that will tell you how much the PSU puts out at stock settings, but you won't know what it does under stress, which is the important part. There is really no way to test that either. There is some software that is supposed to read it, but software is pretty unreliable.

Maybe the best option would be if you have a friend you has a graphics card and would be willing to swap with you for a couple of days to see. If your card gives him a BSOD but his runs fine in your machine, that would be the most telling evidence of what is wrong as far as the card is concerned.

Let's try this first. You need a utility that reads the temp of your GPU and most good ones allow for a custom fan profile as well as on screen readings. Then run Furmark http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/100356-video-card-stress-test-furmark.html I wouldn't put a time on it. Watch your temps When you start the Burn in test, temps will go up very high and very quickly, if it gets too hot, stop the test, if not, watch for artifacts and run it until the temps level out and quit rising. If you see no artifacts and your card runs well, then It shouldn't be a card problem, and sort of speaks for the PSU also. When the card ramps up like it will do, the PSU goes under stress and has to put out a lot more voltage. After that we can try a couple of other things, but there is no test for the motherboard or PSU in reality, so it is pretty much a judgment call. That is another reason swapping cards with someone else is important.

I'vr run Check Disk on both drives, both come up with no errors. I've also updated the firmware on the SSD, as well as performed the Performance Restoration. As soon as I get a break from work I will check the voltage settings from the BIOS. I MAY have someone I could switch out GPUs, I'll have to see.

As far as the GPU temp, I believe EVGA's precision suite displays temperatures. I'll do the Funmark test later tonight.

Thank you for all the assistance!

OK, just check to be sure. They are very well documented causes of BSODs among all of us BSOD people. I would also use it to set a pretty aggressive fan profile also.

OK, just check to be sure. They are very well documented causes of BSODs among all of us BSOD people. I would also use it to set a pretty aggressive fan profile also.

Setting a pretty aggressive fan profile, you're referring to using Precision?

Also, instead of swapping out my GPU with someone, couldn't I just take it out and use onboard video?

Swapped cards with a friend of mine, he has yet to have any issues with my GPU in his system. However, ever since I put his GPU into mine, I have yet to have an issue. Usually BSODs within 10min, going to keep an eye on it.
