I just put a new Toshiba 14.06GB HDD in my Dell D800 and installed Windows XP about three days ago. I just started my computer up, this morning, and it had reported that there was low space left on the hard drive. So, I checked into it and found that ONLY 8.04GB was used. Windows reports that 14.02 out of 14.06 is used. The only reason I think it would do this is that the battery died whilst updating, last night. Any help would be appreciated.

(Wiping and re-installing XP would be my last resort.)

It shows that my my pagefile.sys and my hiberfil.sys are overly bloated and taking up most of my HDD. What could I do fix this problem? I could disable Hibernation, but I can't disable page file. (I only have 1.5 GB of RAM.)

Hi WinterBlue,

It does not seem correct that you have 14.06 Gb hard-drive. It should at-least be a 40 Gb or 80 Gb hard-drive.

It seems you are not using the complete hard-drive size on the system. Can you kindly post the screenshot of the disk management and my computer so I can check the same and advise you further.

If you have any further queries feel free to reply to us.

You can disable hibernation by going to Start > type in CMD > Right-click on CMD and hit run as admin > type in POWERCFG -H OFF

You're prolly right about not wanting to disable the pagefile, but you can manage its size if you like by clicking Start > right-click Computer > Properties > Advanced System Settings > Advanced (tab) > Performance: Settings > Advanced (tab) > Virtual Memory: Change > Select Custom size and enter the size you'd like > and click Set.

Is this a 32-bit OS or 64-bit?
