Although this code below shows Windows is not activated, I could swear it was so I checked and it says it wasn't so I have now activated it.

suggest you also run
sfc /scannow (3x)


and another chkdsk DONT like the last line

Was just reading up about sfc as it happens.

Still doing updates! Lots of them. It is still showing as activated.

Just ran findstr command to extract info out of CBS Log which is 17Mb but sfcdetails.txt is empty. Finds to command is supposed to work with CBS.log

I'll tell you what Roy. I've never known installation to be so problematic. No fun anymore.

I know very little about PC's compared to someone like you but the MFT line is worrying

I did KB971033 but it doesn't appear in revision history. Also, seem to be getting a lot of failed updates. I just keep checking and updating until no more.

Just ran sfc and it finishes in a split second and verification doesn't move from 0%. Very strange. It comes up with windows resources protection did not find any integrity violations. Ran it in safe mode too. Same result.

Time for bed. Fingers crossed the computer is still on in the morning.
