Rattling noise

Well, today, I powered on the computer and the fan rattling noise was way quieter but it still rattled. Also, a little off topic, but for some reason, the noise from my hard drive I talked about in a thread long time ago quieted down randomly while I was copying files over to a flash drive and stayed quiet. The SMART status on the drive is good according to Crystal Disk Info. Now that I think about it, the technician that fixed this computer before I joined SevenForums might have replaced the drive, but I'm not sure.

Also, should I put this computer in a cardboard box as I will not be using it again until about August?

What do you mean by mechanical reason? Yes, the main reason I'm thinking about doing this is for keeping dust away.

Mechanical means that the system, the PC, the parts as a whole and separately.

As opposed to "Aesthetic" - keeping the case shiny and clean.

The only way dust could get inside a PC that is not running is if it is actually blowing around, or if there were somehow a negative pressure inside the case. Normal dust will settle vertically and sit on top of the flat surfaces.

I never picture South Korea as a dry, dusty place. Is it?

Well, in the spring, there is some Asian dust and particulate matter that comes from China through the wind but I keep my windows closed on those days. So dust can't clog up a PC just sitting there? The dust will only settle on the outside of the case but not the inside?

Not likely. I just throw a towel or old sheet over equipment that is not in use.

Well I guess I could put it in 10 boxes if I wanted. :roflmao: I decided to just leave it there on my table if it doesn't make a big difference. Would the tightness of the box matter if I were to put it in a box?

The tightness of the box would only matter if you were moving it - transporting it across town for instance. Only then would you be concerned that it would not bang around inside the box.
