Realtek NIC Slow uploads! (8111c)

Dear all,

I have spent alot of time on Windows 7 using a Realtek 10/100/1000Mb PCIe 8168/8111C built-in NIC with massive problems with UPLOAD only. I am using a 100megabit connection in Hong Kong and while I can download from the Hong Kong Internet eXchange (HKIX) at 10.MBytes constantly, I have been experiencing extreme network stutter and slow uploads (<1MByte/s) within my Internal LAN.

I have been updating to the latest Realtek's drivers in hope of having this bug fixed, but without success.

Long story short, through rigorous and desperate testing, I found that each driver version gave me different results, suggesting a driver related issue.

Working backwards I found
The answer = Version 6.206.0502.2008

Found here: REALTEK - Download driver for RTL8168B/8111B

I can now upload at over 7MBytes/s (limited to my 10Mbps NAS) thereby resolving ALL my network issues in Windows 7 (ethernet connectivity drops/connection loss/DNS errors).

I see many who have identified that there is indeed a problem with uploading only to be shunned off by senior members. I too have went through possibilities such as Half Open TCP ports, TCPIP.sys patching and constant fiddling with NIC settings (Speed & Duplex).....This is your answer.

I hope it resolves problems for everyone. Good luck!

Glad you found your solution. I am having the SAME problem (20MBit download, 500KB upload to internal LAN) with my AMD/ATI motherboard's onboard NIC. It's making me crazy.

ppp,

please let me know if the same driver works for you. (Assuming same onboard NIC).

Oh hot dog! Yeah I have the 8168 so the same driver SHOULD work. I will try it when I get home and let you know ASAP!

YES. I can verify that these drivers provide me the full 1.0MBPS (8 mbit) upload that I ought to get to the Internet. When I actually get home I will be able to verify full transmit to the local LAN.

This surprises me greatly. One thing I notice is that these older drivers are NDIS 6.0, not NDIS 6.2 - which might make a difference.

Or, perhaps there are internal settings. One wonders whether we could duplicate this with parameters or settings in the newer drivers, but I'm happy to use the older ones for now!

Ok NO. I now get full speed to the Internet, and to the VPN (Hamachi) but NOT to the local LAN. This is odd, because Hamachi SHOULD look like a local LAN to Windows.

I'm very confused by this. I may upgrade Windows, as this machine is still running 712x.

Great, it worked and fixed my slow/connections freezes case! Iam also here with Realtek 8111C. Thanks a lot for testing the drivers :)

Just want to bump this back to the top.

I recently reinstalled my Win7 64bit box and realized once again that my new Gigabit network transfers were limited to 5MBytes/second.

After reinstalling this OLD driver, I can now get in the area of 32-65MBytes/second for large file transfers. Jumbo Frames on 4KB MTU

Cheers,
Tommy

Thankyou Thankyou Thankyou

I have been plagued by the slow upload issue on both wireless and wired LAN it became especially apparent when I switched to ADSL2+

My download speeds had large fluctuations and my download speeds were only 200kps, 1/5 of what they are supposed to be.

I had tried numerous drivers for Windows 7, I NEVER would have thought to try an old Vista driver to solve the problem, but it did the trick.

Thanks again, solved a huge long standing headache for me.

Dell Vostro 1320, with Dell branded Broadcom Wifi, and Realtek 8168D (PCI\VEN_10EC&DEV_8168&SUBSYS_02BB1028&REV_03)
Slow upload unstable download both on ethernet and wifi
Problem solved!
