Hello,

I have a problem with Office 2007 related to the displaying of recent documents when open an Office App such as Word or Excel.
I've set the number of the recent documents (lioke 6 or 8 or 10 whatever).
The recent documents I work on or create show up when I open the app for a few days. If I do not use the Office apps for a certain time (I have not systematically experimented with a precise lenght of period yet) they just disappear from the menu windows.
I got to click on "Open" and search for them, which is inconvenient.
Anyone got the same problem? and any idea how to cure this bug?
Thanks in advance for any input.

No issues on my end,
Set it to remember 15, but clear it about every 4 to 6 months,
I also have word.. on the start menu list with 10 doc's to show and pin several of them there to actually open word,
Do you have any system cleaners like ccleaner.......
Also what security suite have you installed ?
Use the Fill in your system spec's link on my signature and add more information about what other third party utilities you have installed.

I save my Excel & other documents in separate folders under My Documents, so that all I have to do is go to My Documents & select the appropriate Office App that I wish to use & there are all my saved items with the date showing when they were last accessed. I find this saves a lot of time & saves having to remember what document is what from a large list & they don't get pushed off the end of a list because of the number of documents you have been working on. Double click on any item in your document list & it will open that item immediately in the correct format ready for you to work on etc..

Thank you Ranger4.
While your solution is elegant (and I use it too) but it doesn't address the issue that I try to understand in learning Office.
Thank you anyway for your answer.

If you move a file it does become lost on the recent files list,
I primarily use the start menu list to pin items possibly you should try it ?

Hello ThrashZone.
Thank you for your input.
1/- I do not move my files from the place I save them 'users/myname/my Documents)
2/- I made an experiment:
I open and save four files with Microsoft Word.
In the Recents Document list I pin two of them (pins seen from the top) and left two of them with the pins seen sideways.
After 2 to 3 days all four of them are gone from the list! The actual files stay where they are saved.

Hello, I've found out the reason: it was Ccleaner that erases the recent documents in the cleaning action. I unchecked the lines and the Office 2007 recent docs remain OK.
