Recommended PSU - Please Help

Graphics card can be tried on the new moboard. If bad then you have to order and wait. Pain waiting.
CPU would have to be tried in a compatible mobo to check.

Suggestion.
You would have to sell it to someone you know.??? Where you say lets make sure it works install and get paid if it does. Something of that sort.??

Graphics card can be tested in almost any PC with a PCI-e slot. I assume it is a PCI-e 2.0 card.
If you have a buddy pull his and install yours. If he is using ATI/Radeon card it probably won't even need a different driver.

Just suggestions off the top of my head.;)

Ohh yeah id have it tested first before i sold it. I would probably put it on ebay if its 100% working. I have this computer im on as a spare and it has a pci-e slot but i dont have a power plug on the psu for my card. It only has a shoddy 350w psu aswell. So i darent risk it lol. I have looked over all the chips on the back of the card and all seems well. It was just the 1 chip on the mobo that has popped.

For my new build..

I have found a i7 bundle consisting of
Asus Intel Ultimate Bundle (Includes P6X58D-E Motherboard & Core i7-930 2.8GHz Processor)

but i dont think my wc kit would fit the socket. I take it id have to buy a new waterblock. Also no ram included. So im looking at £450-ish with buying 6gb ram.

Also theres this..

Radon Intel Core i5 760 2.80GHz @ 4.00GHz Overclocked Bundle []

I have a £400 budget atm, thats without selling my old cpu & ram, and i can get that bundle above with a corsair H50 for £402.99. But im unsure on the i5 series compared to i7's

Cheers

Take a look at my specs as a comparison at least. I've been using it since early September.
It is powered on 12-16 hours a day with no problems so far.
Retired so I'm here on the forum a lot.
There are 4 or 5 versions of the moboard. This is the top one. They add more features.

There are at least two similar builds to mine on the forum and they love theirs also.

I've decided im going to go with the i7 930 & Asus P6X58D-E motherboard bundle thats £350 and im buying 6GB kingston hyperx 1600mhz ram from ebuyer for £80 so the new rig should be about £430 all together also i have found a site that sells the LGA1366 socket clips for TT watercooling kits for under £1 lol. I shouldnt have to upgrade for a long time then. And i will have everything decent in my machine. No cheap psu's and such lol. You've been a big help mate. Cheers :D

Sounds good. I almost went with that CPU and an ASUS board but the extra $$$$ just wasn't in the budget.
I was building from scratch.

Let us know how everything works after assembly.:D

Graphics card is fine. This new PSU is great. 4x 12v Rails at 18a each = 72a right?. More than enough to cope with my graphics card and stuff, My old cheapo psu only had 39a combined on 2 12v rails. I also read that the 5770 requires at least 40a on the 12v rails. At least it was only my motherboard it seems to have claimed, RAM is still ok and so is GPU. I just need to test my CPU now. It will be a shame if the old Q6600 had died also lol.

Cheers.

Got the parts today finally. Very happy with it :D. My case looks so bare without my watercooling tho lol. RAM ran @ 1066mhz out of the box but i had to turn XMP on in the bios. It flys now. Encoding is a breeze. I ran a graphics benchmark and it seems to run alot smoother than my q6600 setup with the same gpu. Tessalation is good on normal where it seemed to stutter on moderate on my old machine. :geek:

Is this what your old one did?

Welcome to Corsair :: Corsair Cinema

Jim :geek:

Haha yes thats exactly what happened.:roflmao: Id say mine was the same as the 3rd one that died on the tests. The psu is well hidden in my case and the spark/bang lit the room up. My new OCZ seems to be running perfect had no hiccups whatsoever. Im glad i came on here for advice or i will have probaby bought another cheap PSU & losing a i7 setup would be awful lol.

Cheers. :)
