Hi All,
I hope I'm in the correct area, but here go's. a friend deleted windows. I'm using a dock so I can still see it on the drive it just won't boot. I would like to restore it so it will boot normally. How can I do that using the dock? I lent her a hdd to use temporary on her computer so I can work and learn with her hdd. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

How was Windows "deleted"? We need to know what your "friend" did in order to figure out what needs to be done to get it back.

When you use the dock, what it is you see on the drive? Is the boot partition still intact? Is the OS partition still intact?

Do you have a Recovery partition still intact on the PC?

If you have no Recovery partition, do you have Win7 install media (a DVD)?

If you have a way of taking a screenshot of what is on the "deleted" windows drive, then post it up.

There is no simple way to delete all of "Windows" -- since it's a large collection of files spread across lots of directories. But, if she deleted the Windows folder, that would certainly stop it from working.

Since you have a Windows ISO, I would use that to burn a Windows DVD on another PC. You can then do a Repair Install from the DVD -- but you will need the product key to activate it.

Have you tried booting into safe mode to attempt to do a startup repair?

recover deleted win 7

HI all, even tho I didn't receive a lot of response I figured it out by myself. I used a win 7 repair disc in a computer other than the original computer and booted with the disc. The darn thing didn't tell me but it repaired itself. I rebooted, it works and I'm happy. I was able to then run Magical jelly bean to retrieve the key. I do thank those that did respond.
