Recycle bin problem..??

system seems to be running very slow at the moment..
emptying the recycle bin takes ages..

- any possible reason for this..?

- only started doing this in last day..

Check you startup folder in msconfig... Check your task manager for unknown processes that may be running....

there was one Unknown prog relating to Language (dunno what that's about..) - so I disabled that one..

also disabled Windows Live Messenger and Steam, but problem persists..

seems that all my Office2007 progs are running very slow as well..
also boot-up is taking about three times longer than usual - what's going on..?

anyone else getting this - it's not that recent update for IE8 vulnerabilities, is it..??

Run a full system scan with your AV program......also, try disabling everything in your startup tab except for your AntiVirus and your firewall and see if that helps...

ran Malwarebytes - it found a HiJack entry - which I dumped..
- still behaving oddly though..

- still very slow boot-up and progs generally taking ages to be discovered by OS on start..
- and all Office2007 programs very sluggish to start as well..

- all will give message "Not Responding.." if I try to action anything while the progs are running..

seems one of my SSD's is playing up - system attempts to verify it are failing..
- Office diagnostics state that system is unstable due to hardware failure..

the failing drive (G: ) is OCZ 60G SSD..

My recycle bin takes ages to appear as well. I wouldnt rely on malwarebytes solely. Try various other tools like a-squared. Having said that mine has found nothing. I think its an inherent system "feature" rather than anything malign.

I've a feeling that the SSD is somehow "locked" - the system still goes looking for it, hence the delays
- this is the look of it:


Drives C: and E: are 100G and 900G partitions on the same HD
Drive F: is SSD-one

- as you can see, Drive G: which was previously named as SSD-two has reverted to it's default identity of Local Disk..
- and has become undetectable by the OS - the green loading/progress bar doesn't complete its sweep across the address box..
- it hangs up, right near the end..

- very odd..

Huh....well, I noticed on my SSD (TRIM) that recycling the Recycle Bin took a bit of time. I think that's because some TRIM, at least on my Samsung SSD, only do something when you delete a file. But if you haven't noticed the delay before, that theory is kind of thrown out.

How full are your SSDs?

both SSD's are OCZ 60G versions..

as per the piccie on the previous page, SSD-one has aroung 40G used..
I don't recollect using the second SSD (ex-SSD-two) at all, and it is currently inaccessible by any means..

- oddly enough it still shows as a valid drive in Windows Explorer - though it won't scan and no details are posted by the OS..
- all very strange

- I guess I shall have to remove it for testing in another PC, prior to RMA back to OCZ..

- what started out as a sluggish Recycle Bin query has now become a possible SSD failure..

Oh, duh, sorry. I forgot about that picture. I think it's like 80% or something were hard drives start getting degradation?

Yeah, I think there's one for each hard drive. But there are all linked to one icon?

Ugh, yeah...try posting this in the SSD forums over at OCZ maybe before you RMA. Someone there might know something. :/

- notice how Drive G gives no info in the report..??
- there's definitely something screwy going on there..

also, I have a missing RAID driver, though how significant this is I don't know, since none of
the drives are in any way linked at the moment - is the RAID driver really necessary in this type of HD set-up..??


PS: the aim is to return to a set-up where the OS and Office are on a RAID0 pair of SSD's (F: and G: )
- presumably, at that point the RAID driver will become essential, but is that the reason for my current problem..?

- the current partition on C: will be removed and it will revert to being a 1TB Storage drive
- but that plan is on hold at present, awaiting confirmation of this drive G: problem.. :huh:

Q: with current set-up, should I disable RAID - if so, how..??

SSDs are very sensitive to voltage variations. Check your 5Volt line with e.g. Speed Fan.

well, one SSD is fully functioning OK, so I assume the 5v line is holding firm over all, but
oddly enough the Bloodrage mobo isn't on Speedfan's listings, so it doesn't show info on either of the SSD's

- any other suggestions..?

There should be a setting in your BIOS to turn RAID functionality on/off.

Tried switching ATA to AHCI in the BIOS, too?

OCZ say this re AHCI..

AHCI
AHCI is not official supported on OCZ SSDs and may under some circumstances affect performance,
specifically during windows installation. Enabling AHCI can result in higher performance in synthetic
benchmarks for SSDs and HDDs alike, but can cause hang-ups and intermittent freezes in SSDs since it
allows multiple access requests to compete for a drive that is not made to address re-ordering of
commands in the queue. We recommend AHCI is set to disabled in both Windows and in the BIOS.
Native Command Queuing greatly increases the performance of standard rotational drives but it has no​

bearing on SSDs.

- how exactly does one disable AHCI in Windows7..??
- Meanwhile, I'll look up that RAID switch in BIOS..
