Hi, i just tested it out, in addition a zipfile with step by step what i did. After selecting all, i can see in the bottom the total amount of all selected files (in this case two example files).
I created the attached file with Problems Recorder in Win 7 (psr.exe). You can open this with IE.
Maybe it's another issue?
Kind reg,

I don't see an issue, you wanted to know the total amount in the recycle bin and you showed that amount in your psr file. Is there something I am missing here?

You're not alone. I don't see it either. I did install a program recommended here called TreeSize Free which works well for seeing the size of a folder or drive. Once installed, just right click on the folder or drive and select TreeSize Free.

ClassicShell will restore this functionality along with other things left out of Windows 7, like the Classic Start Menu. The following is from a post on Jan 2 2010 by MakeYourDay here: Explorer Status Bar Needs More Info in Win7

Solution: install the open source Windows Classic Explorer:

Welcome to Classic Shell

It restores the familiar Status Bar functionality, including size of folder contents/selected files/folders AND disk space remaining. You can therefore hide the oversized (and frustratingly unhelpful) Details Pane. It also comes with Classic Start Menu functionality, but I am ok with the new Win 7 start menu, so I unchecked it during the install.

I am running Classic Explorer on Win 7 64-bit and am a happy Windows user again.

Regards and Happy New Year.

Kind reg,

i saw that you attached a file, a 'psr' but whats that?

and maybe it depends on what version of win7 you have installed for the size in recycle bin to show? dunno but i do know that it worked in XP just fine.

CLASSICSHELL worked great!
i know its not a big deal but i can finally see how big my recycle bin is. awesome!

its a real shame that we have to install a program in order to get functionality BACK.
and when is windows gonna allow the SIZE of FOLDER to be displayed FFS? seriously, its one of the most basic things.

the tree thing program was ok, thanks for that.

ps, found a very cool program to help hide desktop icons with only a double click, I LOVE IT! its called FENCES and many of you might already have it or maybe not.

anyway, glad this whole recycling bin is not just a setting with windows but more or a problem since all versions don't have that built in.

thanks again!

I have, or had?, the same issue. I've pressed Ctrl-E (my Win7 is in spanish) and no size is displayed. But now it shows after reading this post. Magic? Miracle? :p

It's not true. It only works, I believed, only with few files, but when you have several it doesen't display the total size. I'll try ClassicShell.
