Refresh rate stucks at 60Hertz

No i don't get that because, "again for the 3th time", i had a refreshrate problem too, in fact, it started off not having anything else then 60Hz @ 1152x864. 1152x864 was available from the start but only at 60Hz. So my refreshrate was stuck at 60Hz too, just as RougeCrown put in the title of his topic!! So from that point of view, me and him had the same problem! How close can you get to the same problem besides that mine is not a laptop? Get it now?

The only thing i wanted Windows 7 to do was offering me the same refreshrates XP offered (60, 75, 85, 100 and 120 Hz). After doing a 4 days search and reading through a lot of forum posts, i found a couple that could solve my problem. The resolution problem i had has nothing to do with the refreshrate but both could be solved in one go and both are caused by the EDID file Windows 7 uses. Get it again?

Besides you asking him he has gone to the optometrist lately, you haven't brought any possible solution so far. Poor advice if you ask me. Now mine didn't bring it either (yet) but at least it came with a decend possibility for him to try and solve his problem. Your constribution does not. Enough said...

@RougeCrown:
What nVidia driver are you currently using?
Also, i have two little proggy's here which allows you to roll your own custom EDID file. If needed, PM and i'll send them over. I got them from someone with the same problem but i didn't go that route to solve my problem but went for the 182.50 drivers which have the option to create a custom res/refresh and keep it (above 182.50 the create option doesn't work 100%).

The man said 60hz on an LCD made his eyes hurt. Even you must admit that that's an awfully rare complaint?

Thinking of anything and everything that might cause this, even though it may not have solved the problem yet, is just that... thinking of possibilities... and yeah, if your eyes hurt from an LCD, you "might" have a problem with your eyes, it is possible... probably not, but it is possible... so calm down.

It is your assumption, which may be true, we don't know yet, that it's 7's reading of the EDID file that's causing the OP's problem because 7 is using it's own instead. Again, since the OP has an HP, imo it's not very likely since HP sells a lot of machines.

Your IIyama may be the greatest thing since sliced bread; however, it's still an obscure monitor... and certainly sells nowhere near the amount of units HP does.

His issue may be driver related? I read that the latest from nvidia has a few bugs with respect to features... like clocking... perhaps this is another? He could try an older version, but I'm still unclear whether the OP installed the drivers from the HP site I linked as he was a bit vague about which drivers he's using... HP or from nvidia.com?

Hi guys, sorry to be vague. Anyway, FYI, i installed the HP one first, then installed the nVIDIA one as the HP one couldnt solve the problem. My card is nVIDIA geforce 9200M, and i installed the newest build from nVIDIA. I went ahead and tried with older versions like the 18x builds like what Lange suggested, but they all failed. They said that they could not find any hardware from nVIDIA from my machine, i think it was just a problem with mobile cards.

And @ Fumz: my eyes are fine, thanks for asking. :) But i just noticed after installing windows 7 (the official one, not the RC2) my eyes get tired very easily when using the computer. Thats why i think the 60 hertz refresh rate is the issue here.
