Registry cleaners

I been using KIS for years and have never had major issues. Runs win7 64 without a problem here.
Registry cleaner = Ccleaner.

Oh really? I've installed KIS on multiple machines and like two of them including mine have had startup issues. Such as for example, when Windows starts up and KIS is being loaded into memory, after a certain point about halfway when it should be started up; it's TOTAL system lockup. It's getting slightly ridiculous considering that I reinstalled it and had that issue come up only a few days later. I have to boot into safe mode and disable the startup for KIS and boot normally and manually start it. I doubt the registry cleaner is doing anything since those machines I installed KIS on have the cleaner on it too and the cleaner is used and isn't causing issues. I stayed away from cleaning for about a month to see if it was the cause, it doesn't seem so. I really wonder what's doing that. I got flak from a friend because of that....

Sounds like you might need to reinstall your OS and start a fresh install of all your stuff including KIScry. I have had a similar problem in the past and the only thing that resolved all issues was reinstalling Windows. It's not so difficult actually

I think that registry cleaners actually do a good job at keeping things running smoothly........I been using CCleaner for years and I haven't had one problem yet, on top of that I use MzRegistry Defrag (part of the MZ7 Optimizer software set) to keep the registry in tip top condition. Still my PC starts up slowly, but that's a different problem altogether.

I would run from any program with "Reg" in it's title. Most of these are sales scams without a synapse of genius. Stick with proven CCleaner.

Same, i avoid any thing with the name "reg" in its title, but auslogics and Ccleaner seem to have been the best two i have used and continue to use them both!

Uncheck all Startups in msconfig>Startup except AV and gadgets/stickies if you use them. All others are freeloaders at all times on your RAM/CPU, slow startup and can spy on you.

Once you turn these off, find out which ones are turning themselves back on and turn them off in their program Preferences. Then in msconfig>Services hide all MS services to find out which are starting without your knowledge. Uninstall or turn them off by whatever means necessary.

If Startup is still slow, use the tool which the Pro's use to find out why: Trace Windows 7 boot/shutdown/hibernate/standby/resume issues - MSFN Forum

Do not use optimizer suites, especially ones no one has ever heard of, as Win7 is already optimized as perfectly and lean as it can be. Tweaks beyond normal system settings will always come back to bite you. This is not XPired.

Oy. Wow, I had to reinstall Windows last November....it was awful. I forgot that I had a 32 bit virtual machine with Halo 2 installed and I had a game halfway through it. I don't know what the h-e-double hockey sticks happened but the machine was deleted!

I think I'll do that when I install a RAID 0 setup in the near future. Maybe...but I might just clone my hard drive.

Also on top of that, you can do a services configuration. After I did that to my system services, I gained about 150-200 MBs of RAM. Seriously.

My motto to optimization software is to use it in moderation. If you're an average user, run the software every month with Windows 7. It's amazing! Unlike vista, you can actually touch it and it won't screw up like vista did. Wow.
