Hello,

I am wondering if someone knows a way how to manage windows 7 remotely, i.e. Computer Management ( win logs, services etc) from Windows XP host.

For example there was administators kit for winsows 2000 / 2003 that I could install on XP machine and remotelly manage AD/ Logs etc...

so anyone have idea how to do it ?

Thanks in advance...

here is the scenario:

I have to manage 20+ PC that are Windows 7 based machines in one company.

as remote system to which I am connected is an VPN host based on Windows XP.

often I have to analyze windows logs, check services etc..

I am using old methods:
for windows logs:
export event logs on win7 via cmd line ; copy/paste on XP pc/ copy / paste on my Windows 7 / open logs in my event log viewer

for services:
I use pstools from sysinternals(microsoft)
do actions in command line (errors offten)

So if I have some Admin tools like win7 admin pack or something i can increase operating speed over VPN :)

Hi,

MMC from XP is not 100% compatible with MMC of Win 7

I tried that for services:
Error occurs:
Configuration Manager: The Plug and play service or another required service is not available.

For Event logs: not working at all

Is there any download of Win7 MMC ?

Regards.
