Solved Remove Reload Icon Windows Explorer

I want to remove the Reload button on Windows Explorer as I am using the Soft 7 2.0, it just doesn't look nice right at the edge.

Can anyone help?

Did you change any system files when you installed that seem I ask because that reload icon looks different than the default one.
I think that is in the ExplorerFrame.dll bitmap # 288, 295, 296 depending on your DPI settings there are four images on the one image you'll have to edit that part out.

A little further down in the comments he states he has stopped development, and no longer has any of the files he created to develop this Skin/Theme.

No I didn't, except the color.

I use CTRL+R or F5 to refresh anyway and after 3 years never used that button.

Can you remove it for me please?

It looks normal when it's not minimised or maximised, forgot what this positions called, but when in the middle it's offcentre.

Is that image in your first post from your computer?
If it is you or someone else had to of change the ExploreFrame.dll . Do you still have the blue navigation buttons or are they something else? I can change the default ExploreFrame.dll but not the one provided by the theme maker.

Yes, I can see it in 295 and 296

So did you or did you not change the ExploreFrame.dll that came with that theme?

I just looked at that theme and it would be bitmap # 288 that you need to edit.

I did not edit it and no-one has accessed my computer.

The only edit I did was replace the Windows Explorer explorerframe.dll with this one.

I am not accusing you of doing anything wrong I just want to make sure whether or not you had changed that ExploreFrame.dll is all. If you want to remove that refresh button image you will need to edit bitmap # 288 in that ExploreFrame.dll .
You can edit it for your personal use but you cannot redistribute it to anybody else.

Download a 30 day free trial of Restorator - Bome Software - Restorator - the resource editor for customization, localization, and translation.

Open up the ExploreFrame.dll


Drag and drop bitmap #288 onto your desktop


Open it up in a image editor and erase the refresh image and save the image.

Drag it back into restorator the image will look like it has not changed but it did now save it you will have the saved copy and a backup copy when done.

The action can't be completed because the folder or file is open in another folder.

I am working on the copy of it but when I drag and drop the modified ExplorerFrame.dll to System32 I get file in use error even with Explorer.exe closed.

Never mind, had to change the one in there to ExplorerFrame.dll.old and then I could add it in.

Now I have another problem

It's still at the edge and has a white background around it.

Bitmaps can be a tricky image to edit get a another copy of that ExplorerFrame.dll that came with the theme and edit it again but saved it as a .png then go to this site Online Image Converter in converted to a .bmp and try it again.

I don't think I even have the Aero ExplorerFrame.dll as my desktop got messy , I will try to keep it organised in labelled folders so I know what everything is..
