Removing files from "Temp" directory ?

Can I remove/delete the contents of the Temp folder in the following User directory:

C:\Users\Tim\AppData\Local\Temp

Seems to have an enormous amount of "temp" files...26.6 GB !?

yes you should be ok if you have a spare external drive copy them to that then delete the tempory file in c just in case or download ccleaner ..
CCleaner - Optimization and Cleaning - Free Download and if you have never used it read the instructions on there web site for guidance you can use this program for lots of things one of them being finding the tempory files in windows.

Since tyou already know where it is, you could as well just go into that folder, hit CTRL-A then delete and skip all files that can't be deleted (because they're in use ATM). Empty your recycle bin and you're all set without the need of external software

Exactly what I do .. after a quick check just to make sure it's not valuable.

i check mine before deleting due to past experience ie: programs not running right after a reboot after deleting that way.

Doing it manually, it's always best to do it right after booting up.

WIN E key combo | open C drive | in the long bar at the top, type in %TEMP% | select all, for example, using Ctrl-A | delete all, for example, right-click on the selection and choose Delete

Just skp any files which Win 7 doesn't want to delete.

Cleaning the temp folder should be a part of your weekly maintenance policy.. If you ignore this, then yes, the folder will will build up over time... Follow the suggestions, and you wont have to worry about it anymore..

The Windows Disk Cleanup Wizard will delete your temporary files, but only if they are over a week old. To create a simple batch script that will clean up your temporary directories:
Create the Batch File:
Open Notepad and type:
cd C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local rmdir /S /Q Temp
And save the file as cleantemp.bat
Now double click on the file, you created, to remove your temporary files and free up space on your computer. If this doesn’t work and gives an access error, try replacing %username% with your windows login username.
To automate this process:
1. Right click on the batch file you created and click create shortcut.
2. Place the shortcut in your startup folder in the start menu (Customize Your Start Menu.)
3. Now when you log in to Windows 7, your temporary files will be deleted.

Thank you, but I did not mean temporary internet files. I meant the clutter created by Windows whether you use IE or not.
