Removing the shortcuts arrow after SP1 ?

hello,
since I installed win7 SP1 the .reg file takes away the whole shorcut (but for the name), not only the arrow.
will there be a new way to remove this ugly arrow ?

Hello icacream,

I don't know what .reg file you are referring to, but you could use an option in the tutorial below to remove or change the shortcut overlay arrow icon.

This is precisely where I got this .reg file from :

I have happily used it for years but with SP1 it takes away the whole icon for the shortcut, not only the arrow...

I had gone to option one last week and picked up a bunch of publicity pops up - made a restore to get rid of them... don't want to go there again !

It's working fine for me, so it'll be interesting to see what it's doing for you. Please go and a post a screenshot showing what happens to your shortcut using the .reg file.

In addition, see if rebuilding the icon cache may help.

here's what happened when I
1 - used the .reg file to remove the arrows in the shortcuts
2 - used the file to rebuild the icon cache
pretty frustrating !!!

I just don't know where to go from here
any ideas ?

In that case, use the .reg file to restore the default arrow, then see if Option One will work for you.
