To whom it may concern.

I would be grateful if someone may be able to assist me.

I renamed my "My Pictures" folder to a different name and then also renamed it in the registry under the following key HKEY_Current User\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Current Version\Explorer\User Shell Folders.

I then renamed it back to "My Pictures" after it did not bring the desired change hoped for, however in the registry I had made an error in renaming where I renamed the Value Data key to "My Picturs" without the "e."

This however has all now been rectified however if I go to Properties of the now My Pictures folder I see that the Object Name is still "My Picturs" under the Security or Sharing tab.

Also I do not see My Pictures Folder reflected if I wanted to add it to the library however I can navigate to it within Windows Explorer.

My question is how can I now edit the Object Name of which I have attached a copy to see what I am talking about.

Searching the registry for "My Picturs" has brought up no results.

Your help and assistance to a silly tired error of mine would be apreciated.

With thanks
Dave Peter

Hello Dave,

In addition to the registry location in your post, double check the location below to see if it also has the correct folder name. You may need to restart the computer afterwards.

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell Folders

If that still does not help, then would recommend to create yourself a new administrators account to use instead. Afterwards, copy any shortcuts or files you want to the new account, and when ready, delete the old account.

Hope this helps, :)
Shawn

Hi Shawn.

Thank you for your reply. I have checked the other registry key and all seems as it should. I hear your recommendation, however I am rather eager to know if there might be another way of correcting this before I create a new account for myself.

With thanks
Dave

Have you tried a system restore to a point before this happened?

Hi Shawn.

Thank you, I have tried this and it has worked wonderfully. Really this is what I love about this site and the people on the forums I have always found helpful with a geniune desire to try and assist. All articles such as the one of yours that I was referred to I have always found most comprehensively written with an eye for detail, even to the point of "you might have to restart the machine a number of times" for the changes to take effect. For me this was the key in doing what what advised.

Really great work work everyone, thank you for your time and efforts. Most appreciated.

Dave.
