Renaming songs in WMP

I ripped a CD to my HD and it mixed up the tracks and the track names, so all are out of sync by two positions.
I renamed all the songs correctly but when I play them with VLC or WMP the music plays the correct song but the names remain the same.
How can I get the names to appear as per the song being played?

try renaming them in mp3tag, the tags are being read in the player despite the file names being different. if you use winamp you can easily change the tags automatically then use mp3 tag to change the tags to filename .saving ages of typing.
