I recently came home and my computer was on the black start-up screen. It gave the error status: 0xc000000F, File:\boot\BCD. I tried to run the repair disk, but it doesn't recognize the Win 7 OS. It does see the old Vista OS. I believe this occurred after a recent Windows update (set to automatic).

I tried to load drivers but don't know which ones to load. I can see all of my Win 7 files. someone please help. I don't want to re-install and lose all my files.

Hello and Welcome !

First make sure the boot order is rite in the BIOS. Hard disk is set to boot first. Follow this article and see if you can run a Startup Repair make sure you run it atleast 5 to 6 times. http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/681-startup-repair.html

If that didn't work try this article http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/20864-mbr-restore-windows-7-master-boot-record.html and How to use the Bootrec.exe tool in the Windows Recovery Environment to troubleshoot and repair startup issues in Windows

Hope this helps,
Captain

Thanks CPT but it still doesn't even recognize the windows 7 os. tried to rebuild it with command prompt, but it only goes back to the old Vista os. Tried rescanning using repair, but now it shuts off and says: cannot repair automatically.

root cause found:
No os files found on disk.

But I can still see the files are there when trying to load drivers.
