Repair ie 8

Windows froze while browsing, so I had to turn off the computer.
After this incident, every time I start ie, it keep asks if I want to use ie as default browser. Oh yes, it is my default browser and no other browsers are set to default.

Also, when I reboot the computer and start ie for the first time it tells last session wasn't property closed and If I want to restore last session or go to home page. When I click restore it just go my home page.

So far, I've tried reset, scan fix, reinstall java and try to replace Internet Explore folder in program file(*86) but it keep telling that I need to have a installer to replace the file.

Can you guys shad me some light?

Easier than the next idea would be to do a system restore, thats only 1 reboot and the most sensible idea, as you could do the following, and it wil fix IE 8, but as it could be a 3rd party application that caused the problem you will have to do some follow up work. I would consider the most likely application that may have corrupted IE8 - alternative browsers - download managers etc - but a least you might be able to eliminate them by selective use after a system restore.
You could try this go to programs and features on the left side select turn windows features on or off find IE 8 and deselect it, and reboot if necessary, and then reselect it to install - your guess is as good as mine as to whether this will work although it does say uninstalling program or words to that effect - you can also remove other parts of the OS if you dont use them eg media centre etc - seems to me it would have to uninstall it and then reinstall it.
