My PC has been stable running Vista for a couple of years, tonight I decided to install the Windows 7 RC, and just a few apps for testing, but whilst it is mostly stable, I get a BSOD whenever I visit a specific webpage (For Keygetys SoftTH).

The only apps I've installed so far are Avira-Antivir Personal Edition and Firefox 3.5.

When I visit the page with Internet Explorer 8, nothing happens, however if I open the page in Firefox I get a BSOD straight away.

I have attached the minidmp's that were produced, if anyone can help me diagnose this I'd be very grateful, cheers,

V.

all five dumps are virtually identical. they were caused by afd.sys which is a windows file and part of the winsock stack. Its used for networking. Since all five were caused by the same file I would replace the wifi/nic driver It msy be old or corrupt. I would also run a system file check to verify the system files. to run sfc go to start>search>type cmd>right click and run as admin>type sfc /scannow.

Let us know the results

Thank You!

Following your tip a quick google search informed that theres an issue with the Atheros ethernet driver that gets installed by Windows 7 RC.

I followed the suggested fix of installing an older Atheros driver in Vista compatibility mode and now can visit the page without issue!

On top of that I've just learned how to use the debugger tools to get more detail and parse my own .dmp's and hopefully in the future can assist others! :D

Again, Thanks!
