Replacing a dead SSD

I have a computer with an SSD that has the OS and some Apps. It also has a HDD with photos and videos. The SSD failed. I purchased a new SSD and installed it. I disconnected the HDD and installed windows 7 on the new ssd. Now can I just plug the HDD in and it will work like it did before? I don't want to lose the photos and videos. I don't have a backup. Do I have to set up windows pictures file so it know where to find the photos? Any help to get this HDD working like it did before would be great. Thanks

You should be able to just plug it in and your data will be there. Your SSD just failed, not your second hard drive AKA mechanical drive/platter.

The drive and files will all be there but as it belongs to the old user so you may have no rights to files you may have to take ownership of folders

Will I have to rename it as "E" drive ? I have tried to find videos on how to do this but haven't found any. I don't want to click the wrong thing and lose the photos.

You can have any drive letter you want and can change it in disk manager its the fact it may be owned by former user which even if its same name the sid wont be if you get the problem we can advise
