I know how to do most of the settings.

Date|Item Used|Place Used|Credit|Debit|Balance
01-10-15 | DC| Walmart |0.00 | $25.10 | $1408.45 (Sample)

Those are my columns in Microsoft Works Database.

When I first created the custom checking account in Microsoft Database the last column I put this in =Balance+Credit-Debit then I locked the column. How do I do that in LibreOffice 4.4 or Open Office 4.1.1? I don't want to worry about having to keep Microsoft Works installed.

I have done a clean install of Windows 7 using Dell re-installation disk (Dell sent me one). I also use Free Macrium reflect backup and restore.
Don't think you can do it in OpenOffice, last version 4.x.x I installed no longer had support for Works formats. I now stay with LibreOffice for those folks that need the Works files such as recipes they saved as .wps files.
Microsoft Works 9 is fine on my Win7 and Win8.1 computers, both 32-bit and 64-bit. Being the somewhat curious sort I just installed Works 9 on Windows 10 Pro Technical Preview 64-bit, seems to be just fine.

What I am trying to do is move my checkbook program I made in Microsoft Database to Open Office or LibreOffice. I tried Open Office and LibreOffice personal checkbook templates but it is not a complete checkbook and uses the spreed sheet. The Checking account I used is in the form of a works database. Shown here (Sample Only).
