Basically I installed another operating alongside Windows 7 and now I can't boot into either. I've looked for solutions to this problem, but they all require the installation dvd. But my laptop came pre installed with windows 7 and all i have are recovery disks, can someone please help me?
Thanx

What OS did you install? Seems the install failed so you might want to run it again to at least get it running.

To start Win7, you need to burn a Repair CD, boot it to mark Win7 partition active then run Startup Repair up to 3 separate times with reboots to repair the MBR: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/71432-partition-mark-active.html
http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/681-startup-repair.html?ltr=S

Then you can install EasyBCD 2.0 to add the second OS back to a Dual Boot Menu.

Be on the lookout for a Win7 installer to borrow and copy so you can clean reinstall with Product Key stickered to box after wiping your HD.

My guess is that the "other operating system" is Ubuntu, and despite LOTS of posts on their forums advising people NOT to allow the Ubuntu installer to shrink Win7 partitions, you went ahead and did it anyway. Right?

Before you started messing around with your disk partitions, you should have used the built-in Win7 Disk Management utility to create and burn a Win7 Repair CD. Had you done that, you would now have a CD you could use to repair the Win7 boot loader.

Since you didn't do that, check out the NeoSmart Technology forums, when you can obtain Win7 Repair CD images, at the link below:

Good Luck
