by the way, how many Restore Points do you have? Restore Points are kind of like a diff or patch scheme. It uses differences between the current content and state of files to return the system how it was. If you have dozens of restore points with all kinds of changes, it stands to reason the restore mechanism can get confused. It might be a case of "you can't get there from here." You might have to wipe and go with a clean slate. Make a system image backup first though.
