Solved Restore Points??

Many post I read, (I don't have any restore points). I'm wondering why. It's turned on by default. Is the user turning it off or cleaning them out? Windows 7 updates creates a restore point. Restore points are a great thing when needed IMHO. Is their some kind of program that removes them automatically without being requested to do so? I don't understand why someone wouldn't want them.

I prefer Method Two myself.

That's my point; their are so many ways to have a restore point. Why do so many people not have one?

I don't understand why someone wouldn't want them.

To some people, drive space may be at a premium to them for whatever reason. Restore points can accumulate quite a bit of space day after day.

Usually a user who would disable system restore and is smart will have made and does make regular backups usually on a separate drive.

Another reason many may not use them is if they have an SSD, they may have read somewhere that many will disable system restore to cut down on writes to the SSD, and also to save (again) on space used on the drive.

That statement above isn't to debate if it's right or wrong to do so, but merely that it's what some do.


Personally myself I don't use system restore at all. I make system image backups on separate drive/s in case I ever need it on rare occasions.


There are tutorials for reducing the space needed for, disabling, or deleting restore points. The program CCleaner even has an option to let you delete individual restore points.

All up to the user and their preference, but if they're smart they'll give themselves some form of backup/restoration means.

That's correct it's not a right or wrong thing. Back up is also a good idea. It's easy to get a lot of restore points, I only keep a couple and use Ccleaner to remove the extras. I keep two on my ssd computer and my hdd computers. You use a lot of backup so you don't need them but many don't backup like you do. As big and cheep hdd are I can't see how that would be a problem. It's hard to find one smaller than 1 tb. 1 Seagate 1tb only cost me $75.00 in the town I live in. I also understand different preferences of different people. I'm just trying to understand different peoples reasons for not using Restore Point. I understand yours, lots of backups.
Be assured I'm not trying to tell people what to do on this subject.
As many post you have you have surly seen many without Restore Points or Backups.
