I need to restore my computer back to factory settings. I went into the BIOS and there's nothing like that. I went to the startup menu, no luck. Even my HP/Microsoft Restore only does restore points that I did like two days ago. I need to restore my computer to default factory settings, meaning clear the hard disk and make it how it was when I bought it. Help?

How many partitions do you have on your hard drive? Look in disk management.

If it is an HP, I would think it came with a recovery partition, particularly if they did not give you Windows discs.

Three partitions, the local disk, Recovery, and and HP Tools.

You should be able to make "recovery disks" using that Recovery partition. I've never done it, but it's easily done.

I don't need to recover, I need to restore.

Same thing as far as I know. The recovery partition is used to make disks to restore to factory specs.

Well, in the Recovery partition, there is a folder called 'Recovery', and inside that, it's this;

Sometimes I really wonder why should I bother, when OP clearly does not even bother to follow simple instructions.

Hey don't hate. I looked at your link at first, skimmed over it, then returned to here for the second reply. I'm doing the instructions on the link right now.

I don't "hate". I was just a bit frustrated because for once there was a question where a perfect answer was possible (sorry if it sounds bragging ), and it seemed you did not follow those instructions from HP.

Only things I hate are federal tax authorities in Finland and Germany, haggis and six witches...
