Reverting to Windows 8

Hi all,
I previously had Windows 8.1 and installed Windows 7 off a bootable USB.

Now if I want to reinstall Windows 8.1 using another bootable USB, is that possible? Will I need my product key or will Windows 8 automatically recognize my product key which should be in the BIOS?
The problem is that, did installing Windows 7 over Windows 8.1 erase any memory of product key.
