Right-click to select doesn't seem to work right

When right-clicking on files I notice that it only selects them (that is, brings up the context menu I'd expect for the thing I tried to click) when I actually click on the text of the filename or the preview/icon itself, and not just the surrounding area. For example, when I mouse over something in details view, it highlights the entire row, but if I right-click on the whitespace instead of the text itself, it just opens the context menu for the folder itself.

Anyone know how to change this behavior so the highlighted item's context menu shows up or is this just how 7 operates? It's certainly confusing user behavior...

Yes, in Windows 7 and Vista you would need to right click on the actual file or item that you want to see the context menu of. There is no way to change this that I am aware of.

You will need to click on the file name and not any other part. if you click anywhere else it will not work.
