Roaming profiles

Howdy,

I work in a school am testing Windows 7 so it can be deployed across our 600 laptops/computers. Each user has a network drive (100mb) which is mapped on logon.

What I would like...
Most efficient way for roaming profiles. Ideally we would like the AppData folder to follow the user around also so that programs pinned to the taskbar and desktop shortcuts follow them around (i realize that AppData can get quite big but we can create a logoff script that will delete large data).

What I have tried already..
I tried pointing the profile directory in the registry (see below) to the network drive but i got an error at login (see below) - I think this is because the network drive is mapped AFTER the profile is created (therefore the profile cannot be created as the directory does not yet exist).

Registry Edit
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\MICROSOFT\WINDOWS NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList) "Profiles Directory" = Network Drive

Error
"C:\WINDOWS\system32\config\systemprofile\Desktop is not accessible..."

Thanks a lot, :)

I am not experienced with win7 from a enterprise perspective yet however I know about roaming profiles.

Are you using AD 2003 or 2008?

Very very basically -

1. You configure roaming profiles in their logon profile.
2. They need a shared location to their profiles and correct security.
