Yes, we have exhausted most of the possibilities. Lastly we need to swap out the PSU, for a different one, if that don't work ??? A short on the MB ?

It looks like that board uses a 24 + 4 power supply (not a 20 + 4). It has a 24-pin power connector and separate 4-pin connector by CPU. I sure hope you connected the 4-pin CPU power because if you didn't, the board and/or CPU might be toast.

#1 in my snip shows the 20 +4 MB power connector

#2 shows dual 4 pin MB connectors (& /or GPU)

#3 is Sata power connectors

#4 is IDE power connectors

Yes, that socket noted on the lower left (in the above photo) is the one I'm concerned about. It's actually an 8-pin socket but half of it is capped with a plug leaving 4-pins.

Although my motherboard is an Intel, the manual was very specific about having this socket wired before powering on the supply or damage could occur. It's the 12v Processor Core Supply. I'm sure the ASUS board is similar.

Just my two cents but if you have an 8 pin plug by the CPU you should maybe use two 4 pin plugs. My power supply has two especially for this. See picture from my old Asus M3 A32 MVP Deluxe MB.

The OP shouldn't use anything until he refers to his motherboard documentation. That 8-pin connector has a cap over four of the pins for a reason. I wouldn't suggest he simply connect two 4-pin power leads to it without knowing the correct supply needs of the motherboard. The only way he will know that is to read the documentation. Something lacking far too often, I might add.

Yep I have just jumped into the deep end lol Just wanted to confirm that he is actually using all 8 pins and not just 4

I didn't realize that there were 8 pins there, I thought it was 4. But, I see that now that you guys mentioned it. But, we had asked earlier in the thread about that socket. The problem is that his PSU just humms when he plugs in the power cable to it, and does nothing when he presses the power switch. The fans and lights should at least come on, even if it shut back down.

Yes I tend to agree with you, and the OP will probably know the answer anyway but I have heard of the PC failing to work when the wrong connector is fitted

The two boards shown must not be the same revision. That's why it's important to use the docs for the specific board.

But in any case, yes, the PS itself is still suspect; However, the buzz could be caused by incorrect connections too. We really don't know what the OP has wired up. :shock:

Don't mate one of those boards was an old AMD board of mine used only to show the 8 pin connector. Your post was good

Take a paperclip or something else bare metal, and with the Qconn attached to the board, connect the two power pins briefly and remove the metal object and see if that powers it on.

Check your usb ports....one might have a bent internal wire

Okay sorry guys, I was busy until now I just tried the paper clip trick and the power supply does turn on but spins at a very low rate im assuming because nothing is taking energy from it at all,
