Solved Rumbling noise from laptop

Hello,
I sometimes get a rumbling noise inside my laptop. I thought it was either my fan; however, while running "error checking" on my hard drive, the fan was running full blast for 30 min+ without any noise. I then thought it was my hard drive. However, I have recently exchanged my old hard drive for an SSD; unfortunately the problem persists. The noise is periodic and usually arises when I am playing a game.

Is there anything else that may be causing this problem? If necessary, my laptop is the Samsung R580E.
Thanks!

Sometimes there is such a noise that comes from the CD/DVD reader - e.g. when you boot the system. Is it that kind of noise?

Are you sure it's inside your laptop. Sometimes an external USB HDD can "rumble" and if it's on the same table as your laptop it can seem to be coming from the laptop.

Thanks for the replies. And sorry about not filling out my specs. It is done now.

It happens with any game--even a game like Warcraft 3 stimulates it sometimes. The noise doesn't seem to be coming from the CD/DVD reader, or from any externals. I do, however, have a laptop cooler. It is the Cooler Master U2. I doubt it is because of that, since the problem has only arisen a few months ago.

The noise sounds like my old computer when it is processing--a vibrating kind of noise.

So that must be something mechanical. Since you have an SSD, only the fans or the CD/DVD reader would qualify. If it is, however, more like a beeping or hissing, it could be the chrystals on the mobo. They do that on my Vaio - sometimes.

If the problem only occurs when playing games, then I more suspect electrical noise.

What anti-virus software do you use?

Download , install and run CCleaner (link in my sig). Run the Cleaner portion thereof. AFter that then carry out the following:

LIST OF STARTUP PROGRAMS USING CCLEANER

CCleaner | Tasks icon | Startup tab | click on Save to text file button (bottom right side)

Using the PAPER CLIP icon in the top panel of a Message Reply window, attach the .txt file generated by CCleaner.

I have attached the start up list. It isn't much though. I use Microsoft Security Essentials as my AV. I also run CCleaner about once a week.
If it is my CD/DVD drive, should I be worried? The fan problem I know I would have to open up the laptop to clean--only when I am desperate. And I really don't know how significant an electrical problem is.
